Focusing on the core, Pilates works to build strength, flexibility and
balance with control. Instead of working only the superficial layers of
the abdominal muscles, Pilates trains the deeper layers first; this
provides more core stability so the whole body can move with ease. Using
the equipment developed by Joseph Pilates as well as the Pilates Mat
exercises, each client receives a unique, individualized workout.
A Pilates workout can range from a gentle session for clients who are
recovering from an injury to a challenging workout for dancers and
athletes.
Individual Pilates training can be helpful to someone with
Scoliosis as
it helps to build the core strength required to maintain spinal
corrections.
